Older buildings often carry fire safety issues that are easy to miss, from outdated wiring and blocked exits to missing alarms and poor storage practices. First Responder inspectors are encouraging residents and business owners to take a closer look at common hazards before they turn into emergencies.

The prevention team has also shared a checklist to help property owners prioritize corrections and request follow-up guidance when needed.

First Responder will once again host a district-wide ceremony honoring members who have served with distinction and recognizing the legacy of those lost in the line of duty. The event reinforces the department's culture of service, accountability, and remembrance.

Organizers say the ceremony also offers newer personnel a chance to connect with the history and values of the profession.

Plans are moving forward to expand the district's main training complex with upgraded classrooms, rescue props, and apparatus support space. The project will allow First Responder to train more personnel locally while improving realism for suppression, EMS, and rescue scenarios.

Officials expect the expansion to improve readiness and reduce the need to send crews outside the district for key practical evolutions.
